Nicola Downey is an early career scientist, specializing in the field of fisheries science (early life history and oceanography). Her main focus is the use of individual-based models (IBMs) to model the transport and dispersal of ichthyoplankton, with applications to fisheries management. To date she has mostly been involved with the South African squid fishery and is a member of the South African Government Squid Fishery Scientific Working Group. She is currently investigating connectivity in the WIO.
